Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

students with booksWe acknowledge, value, and embrace all of our students, families, and community members within our diverse community. We understand it is our responsibility to ensure that our programs and services are informed by and sensitive to our students’ varied needs. We believe that it is our moral imperative to remove any roadblocks and open all doors of opportunities in order to achieve equitable outcomes for all students.

Our School Board of Directors recently discussed a definition of equity for the Phoenixville Area School District. Below is the agreed upon definition of equity.

"Equity is providing the necessary and attainable resources to students, so they may realize their full potential, by creating meaningful social and academic opportunities for all students."

We understand that equity is not an initiative; it is through our efforts with implementing thoughtful, sustained initiatives that we work diligently in the pursuit of equity. Take a look at some of our district initiatives.
Ongoing professional development is a critical element in developing cultural proficiency and we’ve provided a wide range of opportunities for our staff – from PLCs to book clubs to our inaugural Equity Mini-conference! Check out this list of professional development for staff from this year and prior years.

As educators, support staff, and administrators, we understand that our role is to enhance the relationship between our schools and community. We have a host of community partnerships that serve to support the unique needs of our diverse community.
