Gifted services for elementary students include enrichment and acceleration. A systematic and data-driven process is used for the delivery of enrichment services and identifying students who require acceleration. Students meet with the gifted support teacher regularly and engage in authentic complex learning tasks, that are real-world, project-based experiences, providing them with the opportunity to apply mastered concepts, skills, and processes. Students are also provided with enrichment opportunities, often with like-minded peers, in their general education programming. General education teachers and gifted teachers regularly consult one another regarding strategies to meet individual student needs.
The overall goal is to provide our gifted learners with robust learning experiences. Through data-driven instruction, the instructional depth and complexity for gifted students encourages more active learning and promotes critical thinking by delving deeper into the curriculum content aligned with instructional levels.
