Attendance Expectations in PASD Virtual Academy:
The model of asynchronous learning on a virtual platform often allows for flexibility within a students’ schedule. While flexibility is sometimes important, it is necessary to complete assignments timely to ensure academic success. The expectation is that students are spending at least one hour in each class per school day. If a student is taking 5 classes, the expectation is that they are spending 5 hours per school day completing assignments. Assignments that are incomplete upon the end of the semester will count as 0% which ultimately affects the final grade and could result in failing grades.
PASD staff closely monitor grades and work completion of virtual students. The school counselor will be in contact with the student if the grades and work completion rates are not positive. Administration may also contact parents if there is concern about work completion. Should lack of progress continue, PASD reserves the right to remove the virtual platform and require in-person learning.
PASD staff additionally work closely with the BVA Student Advisor. The Student Advisor supports students who need assistance with time management and academics. Students are always encouraged to ask for support when needed.
